Murp, fuck the jub hunt. Too late to get one, anyhow. All I could do, anyway, is sign up with a few temp agencies and look for a few one or two-day jobs here and there (I nearly got one, but it was third shift, so my mom said, "Heck no." Heh, that just means that she's gonna be paying for whatever money I don't earn :P. God, I'm severely dependent upon my parents :\ ). I'm making an attempt to learn conversational Japanese this year (and the rest of this summer), so that I can specialize in Japan for Anthropology. I already got "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Conversational Japanese", which allegedly has a good romanji translation (I hear that they can get pretty bad). Also, I want to see about taking an intensive Japanese summer course at OSU (next summer, obviously), which should be interesting: 8:30 to 3:00, every day (probably disincluding weekends). 6 1/2 hours of Japanese a day. Wow. I figure that if I become familiar with the language (and hopefully with the Katakana and Hiragana), that I should do well enough in that class. I'm looking to get a head start and all :P.
My one regret about this decision is that it could prevent me from specializing in ancient Egypt (I never lost that fixation :P). I never took my fixation seriously, because I never took time to read up on its history. I watched a few documentaries here and there, and I head straight to the Egyptian collection of museums, but I just don't know if I'd be up for specializing in it, learning Arabic in order to visit the country, study up on all the politics, etc... But then again, I never took time to read up on Japanese history either, so I'm wondering how that's going to work out :\.) Meh...things shall happen as they happen. At any rate, I'd much rather be on the field in Japan or Egypt than be stuck in an office job, planted in a little cubical farm -_-;. So that will hopefully be a good motivator for me to ensure a more interesting future for myself...
But as for the rest of summer...I say meh to the job. Besides, without a job, I will have plenty of time to work on my short story! :D I know where I want it to go, so it hopefully won't turn out like a lot of my other stories, in which I get writers block and never finish them (that's a bit of a bad habit. A certan family member of mine does that, so I'm determined not to end out like that, aka not to have a profile filled with unfinished works)...
